General Questions
From around 7 to 10 days, the plaster we apply should have dried. It will become a lighter powdery colour as the water in the plaster sets. After this time, it will be safe to paint or wallpaper the walls.
Plastering and dry lining is a skilled job and to achieve straight smooth walls we strongly recommend you use a professional with the right experience and expertise.
After all, this is your home – a first time plasterer just won’t do so take on someone who has the experience and skill.
I would rather customers were fully informed and as such I have to tell you that plastering has the potential to be the messiest trade you can have in your home. Having said that we do our utmost to keep all areas tidy. All areas are sheeted out as necessary and once work is completed we hoover behind ourselves to give you the cleanest room we can. We work hard to leave everything just as we found it.
Yes please, although we are fully insured we do not want to cause damage to your home, or leave it dusty.
We always ask that you clear the room – this ensures your furniture is kept free from dirt and damage, and allows us free movement around the walls and ceilings.
We’ll bring building paper and dust sheets to cover flooring, protecting it from plaster and dust.
We will require access to water and electricity whilst we work at your property.
Because all of the jobs we undertake vary, we will quote per project. The cost of any work will depend on the complexity and size of the job.
More often than not, the bond on old plaster can become less adhesive than it was when it was applied. If there is moisture present in the walls, plaster will eventually come loose.
